Tareq Baconi is author of Hamas Contained: A History of Palestinian Resistance (Stanford University Press; 2018, 2024). He is the previous senior analyst for Palestine/Israel and Economics of Conflict at the International Crisis Group, based in Ramallah. He currently serves as president of the board of Al-Shabaka: The Palestinian Policy Network and is a research fellow at the Centre for Humanities Research, University of the Western Cape.
