
The CHR was delighted to host and be associated with the Institute for African Alternatives (IFAA), who held a summit at Iyatsiba Lab in April 2026.
This event was attended by President Motlanthe, the Rector and Vice-Chancellor of UWC, Robert Balfour, Emeritus Professor at UCT, Ari Sitas, and the Dean of the Economic and Management Sciences Faculty (EMS), Michelle Esau, as well as delegates from the academic caucous and the National Union of Mineworkers. After the summit, President Motlanthe was given a tour of Iyatsiba lab and Facts and Fabulations, an exhibition curated by visiting Professor and New Archival Visions Digital Curatorial Fellow, Marcos Martins
