Music Action for People’s Power (MAPP), Festival, 1987. Silkscreen poster produced and printed at CAP, Cape Town. Artist unknown. MAPP was established in the mid-1980s to organise performances for musicians, particularly at rallies of the United Democratic Front (UDF). MAPP also established a musician’s union and conducted music workshops. In 1989 MAPP changed its name to Music Action for People’s Progress, focusing mainly on providing music education to young black musicians. MAPP was shut down in 1995.
