In 1986 the ECC ran a ‘Working for Just Peace’ campaign, which focused on the demand for an alternative to military service. The campaign demonstrated in concrete ways “service that is genuinely in the interest of the country as a whole”, such as renovating childcare centres, building bridges and tree-planting.
