Little Amal via The Jackman Institute
Handspring Puppet Company was founded in 1981 and has grown under the leadership of Artistic Director Adrian Kohler and Executive Producer Basil Jones for 30 years. In 2020, they came out of retirement to help create and build Little Amal, a giant puppet that walked from Syria to London through over 70 cities, towns and villages across Europe to draw attention to the experience of refugee children. The JHI has partnered extensively with Handspring through the Mellon-funded research project, Aesthetic Education: A South-North Dialogue.
The CHR fellowship programme will continue in 2022 through online platforms and, where permitted, limited live events hosted in compliance with COVID-19 protocols. Please follow our events page for updates about events.
