A conference hosted by the CHR from 17 - 18 December 2019 will explore the relationship between the genealogy, the concept and the practice of democracy.
The CHR will be hosting its annual International Workshop in Visual History & Theory at Iyatsiba Lab on 16-17 October 2026, in partnership with Université-Paris-8, on the theme of 'Looking Together.' Migration, solidarity and mobility across time and space are key themes.
This Humanities in Session will be led by Vishwas Satgar who will be in conversation with Lee Walters about his new book and exhibition, Facing the Heat in South Africa, on Thursday 15 October, 2026.
Kim Gurney, Senior Researcher at the CHR, is a contributing author for the first comprehensive publication on the Lubumbashi Biennale, a newly released book that traces relations between the city, its growing art scene and collective practice.
