Other Universals is an initiative launched in 2015. Aimed at renewed intellectual exchange among Africa, India and the Caribbean,Other Universals originated at the University of Cape Town and the University of the Western Cape. Key to the collective is an investment in bringing together political thought and practices that emphasize anti-imperial universals and seek unities beyond the nation; the relationship between blackness, untouchability, and non-normative sexualities is crucial here.
