On Tuesday 24 September (12pm) the CHR will collaborate on the Boschendal Heritage Day festivities with puppet making workshops and a giant puppet walk through the main Werf restaurant area of the Boschendal farm. This is the fourth year of workshops and collaboration, connecting learners from the rural areas of Dwarsrivier valley to the rich world of kinetic objects and puppetry unfolding at UWC. The two giant puppets leading the 2024 Boschendal Heritage Day Walk are a leopard and a crow, created by the CHR’s Ukwanda Puppet Company, for the production of Moving Mountains directed by Sudonia Kouter. The 2024 Visual History and Theory Workshop will take place on 19-20 September at the CHR’s Iyatsiba Lab.Organised around the theme Deep Time, Shallow Time, the 2024 workshop builds on the insights and inter-connections developed across previous keynote lectures, panels and debates, and will venture more deeply into concepts of time and temporal fluidity in relation to the visual.
