            From Ivory Towers to Ebony Towers: Transforming Humanities Curricula in South Africa, Africa and African-American Studies

            The Political Studies Department and the Centre for Humanities Research (CHR) at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) in collaboration with the University of Johannesburg’s (UJ) Institute for Pan-African Thought and Conversation (IPATC) invite you to a launch of the edited volume entitled “From Ivory Towers to Ebony Towers: Transforming Humanities Curricula in South Africa, Africa and African-American Studies”.

            The launch will be chaired by Dr Adeoye O. Akinola, Head of Research and Teaching at the UJ’s Institute for Pan-African Thought and Conversation (IPATC) with welcome remarks by Prof Vivienne Lawack, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), University of the Western Cape.

             The speakers are:

            • Dr Oluwaseun Tella: Head of Future of Diplomacy, UJ’s Institute for the Future of Knowledge.
            • Prof Crain Soudien: Former CEO of the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) and former Deputy Vice-Chancellorof the University of Cape Town (UCT).
            • Prof Bheki Mngomezulu, Political Studies Department, University of the Western Cape.

            Discussant:

            • Mr Lindokuhle Mandyoli, Political Studies Department and Research Fellow from the Centre for Humanities Research, University of the Western Cape.
