Federation of South African Women (FEDSAW), Welcome Dorothy Nyembe, 1984.Silkscreen poster produced and printed at the Screen Training Project (STP), Johannesburg. Based on a 1984 poster made in Botswana by Thami Mnyele for the ANC, Lusaka. Nyembe was the first woman member of Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK), the ANC’s military wing. In 1969 she was found guilty of harbouring members of MK. Sentenced to 15 years in prison, she was released in 1984. The poster welcomes her back into public life.
