During his stint as artist-in-residence in 2013, Mthombeni, in collaboration with Handspring Puppet Trust and the Magpie Art Collective, redeveloped the Net Vir Pret production, ‘Skillie die Skilpad’, for the UNIMA [Union Internationale de la Marionnette (International Puppetry Association)] festival (21-26 October 2013), held at the Gugulethu Library, Cape Town. Designed by Jill Joubert and the young leaders of Net vir Pret youth development company in Barrydale, Western Cape, this production toured to the Montagu Festival and was performed at schools in and around Barrydale in 2014.

The CHR in the time of a global pandemic

In line with protocols introduced by government towards the prevention and containment of the COVID-19 virus, the CHR suspended its public events, seminars, and general fellowship program until further notice.  We wish CHR fellows, students, artists, colleagues and friends, as well as our partners and funders in South Africa and across the world much strength and compassion in these difficult times.
