Ross Truscott holds a PhD from the University of Fort Hare. Before starting as a Next Generation Scholar at the Centre for Humanities Research, he held fellowships at Duke University, the University of Minnesota, and the London School of Economics. He has published on psychoanalysis and postcolonial theory, post-apartheid empathy and its discontents, nationalism, popular culture, race, gender, and sexuality. He is a co-editor of Remains of the Social: Desiring the Postapartheid (Wits University Press, 2017). The monograph he is working on is tentatively titled, The Order of Empathy: Towards a Psychoanalysis for Postcoloniality. He is also an editor of Kronos: Southern African Histories.
